The Song of the Earth

The Song of the Earth is a new operatic-musical (god knows what genre it is) about a world where Tang dynasty poets – 李白(Li Bai), 孟浩然(Meng Haoran), 王维(Wang Wei), 钱起(Qian Qi) meet Gustav Mahler, who used their poems as the source texts for his No.9 Symphony which he calls The Song of the Earth to avoid the “No.9 curse” in classical music.
On the other hand, the infamous women, Yang Guifei – the concubine of the dynasty and Alma Mahler, it’s time to claim their places at the table of immortality – it’s long overdue!

In 2024, The Song of the Earth was selected a semi-finalist at Eugune O’Neill National Theatre Conference.

In May 2023, we presented one number called “Infinite” from The Song of the Earth at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theatre in NYC, it’s a number when Li Bai and Mahler sing about making arts – poetry or composition, the desire of creation is infinite.
